Acropolyp$e now in Greece

ATHENS — Greece is so broke, it’s renting out the Acropolis.

The country, which is teetering on the verge of defaulting on its debt, said yesterday it will open up some of its most cherished archaeological sites to advertising firms and other ventures.

The Culture Ministry says the move is a common-sense way of helping “facilitate” access to the country’s ancient ruins, and money generated would fund the upkeep and monitoring of sites.

The first to be opened would be the Acropolis.

Greece’s public coffers are drained and the country needs all the money it can get.

The ministry said any rental would be subject to strict conditions.
